Halo
The brief
Halo Bank wanted an account that freelancers would actually open every day. Their old app showed six balances and a wall of numbers. People felt anxious just looking at it.
We started with twelve interviews and one question: what do you check first in the morning? Almost everyone said the same thing. How much of this money is really mine?
What we made
One calm balance, with tax and savings set aside in automatic pots. Every screen got one job, one action and a lot of space. Small, honest animations explain where money moves, so nothing feels like magic.
In the first three months after launch, weekly active users went up 38% and support tickets about balances dropped by half.
